Sweet Scabious Purple Seeds

Sweet Scabious Purple is a beautiful annual flower producing elegant, rounded purple blooms on tall, branching stems. Also known as Scabiosa atropurpurea, this lovely variety is perfect for borders, cottage gardens, cut flower displays and dried arrangements.

Sow seeds on the surface of moist, well-drained seed compost and cover lightly with soil. Keep the compost moderately moist during germination. Seeds can be started under cover in March or April, or sown directly outdoors in April once the soil has warmed.

Plant young plants outside in May after hardening off. Choose a sunny position with fertile, well-drained soil.

Growing Tips

Water regularly during dry periods, especially while plants are establishing and during flowering. Remove faded flower heads to encourage continued blooming and keep plants looking tidy. Sweet Scabious is easy to grow and suitable for both beginner and experienced gardeners.
